Historical Village of Botshabelo

Enjoy a meal and beverage in Botshabelo (Place of Refuge), historically a German Mission Station & Trading Post, now a living Ndebele cultural village.

Typical 19th Century self-sustaining mission village with furniture and ornaments dating back to the pioneer days and early missionary settlement.

See an authentic Ndebele hut or a missionary house dating back to the early 1900's and experience the lifestyle of a bygone era - blacksmiths, wagon makers, handcraft artists, African rhythm, horse back riders, traveling on a horse cart, posting letters in a post box, trade in a general dealer shop, etc.

Enjoy refreshments in the tea garden, buy curios made by local Ndebeles and other famous artists from all over Africa, visit the Merensky Fort or enjoy freshly baked home bread out of an open-air clay oven.
